Luke 17:32 Remember Lot's wife.

Greek :

Literal Verse:

Remember that female Lot.

KJV :

Luke 17:32 Remember Lot's wife.

Interesting and Hidden Aspects:

"Remember" is from a verb that means to "call to mind", "to remember," and "to think of."

The word translated as "wife" is the Greek word that means "woman" (as opposed to man), "wife", "spouse", "mortal woman" (as opposed to a goddess), and "female mate" (among animals). It is closer to our "female."

"Lot" is the Hebrew name.  It appears in Jesus's words only in this section of Luke. Since it is not a Greek word, the form is not possessive "of Lot", but we can assume this from the context.

Greek Vocabulary:

μνημονεύετε (verb 2nd pl pres imperat act) "Remember" is from mnemoneuo, which means to "call to mind", "to remember," and "to think of."

τῆς γυναικὸς  () "Wife" is gyne, which means "woman" (as opposed to man), "wife", "spouse", "mortal woman (as opposed to a goddess)," and "female mate (among animals)."

Λώτ.  [uncommon](Hebrew nam) "Lot" is Lōt, which is the Hebrew name.
